What is PTA? How is it synthetic and what is it’s application?
- PTA(Pure terephthalic acid)is low toxic and flammable，n the form of white crystal or powder at normal temperature. PTA will be burning or even explosive in a certain limit of fire if mixed with air.Autoignition temperature: 680℃, ignition temperature: 384~421℃, sublimation heat: 98.4kJ /mol, combustion: 3225.9kJ/mol, , density: 155g/cm3. Dissolved in soluble in alkali, slightly dissolved in hot ethanol, but not in water, ether, glacial acetic acid and chloroform.

oxidized to xylic acid (oxidation), then xylic acid +H2 is purred to terephthalic acid through crystallization, filtration, washing and drying (purred).

PTA is the crucial raw material of making polyester resin film,fiber, insulating paint and engineering plastics. The capacity of PTA has been increased to 600 million T/year from 100 million/year in 2010, including on going projects such as Xin Fengming, Baihong and Dalian Hengli.
